Fireside Lodge is located in Sioux Lookout, Ontario 150 miles north of Canadian U.S. border above the state of Minnesota. Being the only Lodge on a 10 lake system Fireside Lodge offers all guests fabulous sportfishing for Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, and Muskie. Three and a half hours from the Minnesota border, Fireside Lodge is road accessible, and is the only resort located on Little Vermilion Lake. Little Vermilion is the largest in an eleven-lake system. Approximately sixteen miles long, Little Vermillion is a long narrow body of water with a lower and upper section. These spring-fed waters are deep and cold with numerous bays, reefs, and deep weed beds that have created excellent fish-holding structures. The lake forage consists of whitefish, cisco, suckers, perch, various minnow life, and crayfish. With the combination of all these factors, the unpressured-waters of Little Vermilion offers our guests some of the best sportfishing Canada has to offer; year after year. Rustic natural log cabins are nestled in the trees along the lake front, providing a comfortable home-away-from-home atmosphere for your stay. Lodge rooms also accommodate our guests, each with a refrigerator to store any "goodies" they choose to bring along. Modern bathroom facilities are located in the lodge and in the American Plan cabins to make your stay in the Great North a comfortable one

Fishing is what first attracts most of our guests. Red Lake is renowned for some of the best fishing North-western Ontario has to offer. The Lake is one of Nature's wonders, consisting of deep cold-water bays connected by shallow narrows and fringed with shallow warm-water bays. Islands and an irregular shoreline plus a productive clay bottom provide ideal conditions for a variety of gamefish. Northern pike up to 30 pounds skulk in these waters, ready to slash in on nearly anything that moves. Walleyes grow to eye-popping sizes in Red Lake. Eight-and-nine pounders are not uncommon and we've caught walleyes up to 12 pounds. Red Lake is famous for its lunker lake trout. Nothing has the awesome pulling power of lake trout. We have caught trout up to 43 pounds but even a 10-pounder will tax your rod and reel, not to mention your arm.

Way North lodge is a small American plan lodge (we also offer housekeeping plans) located in North Western Ontario 135 air miles north of Red lake Ontario near the Manitoba border. The only way into our lakes is by air. The nearest road is 135 miles south. We are the only camp on all of these lakes. We fish six lakes via portage or float plane from our base camp on south trout lake. Due to our remote healthy water systems, limited fishing pressure (about 150 fisherman per year) and our strict catch and release policy we have incredible trophy pike and walleye fishing. In addition, two of our lakes have Lake trout in them. It's common for fisherman to catch 50 to 100 lake trout per day in the 3 to 10lb. Range with an occasional 15 to 20 pound trout being caught and released. The walleye fishing is actually better than the trout fishing for numbers and size.   Although the trout and walleye fishing can be fast and furious, we are most know for our trophy pike fishing. North Trout, Favorable, and Setting Net are world-class trophy pike lakes. Special care is taken not to injure these trophies when they are caught. We practice CPR. Catch, photo, & release and we ask that you pinch barbed hooks. We believe dollar for dollar you have a better chance of catching a trophy pike at Way north than anywhere else in Canada. The trophy pike fishing is as good and in many cases better than the lodges of Manitoba and Saskatchewan for half the cost of those places..
